A princess in a self made prison

A princess smiled very seldom
Lost in her thoughts often,
Tied with so many obligations
Could not come out of self made prison.
Suddenly a change came ,
And glorious seemed her life.
Started smiling now and then.
People came time and again,
Thinking her a maniac
Was taunted now and then.
Unaware about the change,
She started thinking again.
Thinking to break the prison,
For the change in her life,
Pulled back , fearing the world….
Princess sought to thinking again…
Face turned to grimness again…….

My journey to Dev Bhoomi

After a long gap of 14 years I got the chance to visit my home town, Pithoragarh which is also called mini Kashmir of Uttarakhand and Uttarkhand in the contrary is called Dev Bhoomi as most of the religious places are situated here. My journey started on 4th June in the evening. The bus started at 5p.m from Anand Vihar,Delhi and my excitement to visit my home town increased. With the advent of the dusk I could see people feeling sleepy and most of them slept by 10p.m but I was all awake tracking each and every moment of the journey and was waiting to reach Tanakpur as somebody had told me that the real journey starts from Tanakpur. Finally it didn’t take much time to reach Tanakpur and we were there by 3 a.m. Very excitingly I woke up my mother and we got down from the bus as the bus was supposed to halt there for almost an hour. There were many CD shops where we could listen traditional kumauni songs being played and we could feel to be in the Kumaun. How that one hour passed listening to those traditional songs we could not make out.

We got into the bus and I could see the driver changed here. I had an easy guess that the previous driver must be tired and could not drive further but later I came to know that besides the reason I was thinking, the reason was that driving in the hill needed a skilled driver as the terrain now would be difficult with many twists and turns which only a skilled driver could handle. The half journey was over and we had to cover another half and I said to myself ‘the real journey starts now’.

I was overwhelmed at the first sight of the hills. It’s not that I had seen the hills for the first time… I have been in Shillong which is also a hilly area for 14 long years but the beauty of the hills here was bewitching. The driver was alert at each and every turn and drove very swiftly. With every turn I was thrilled with the awesome beauty of the hills that God has blessed Uttarakhand with and somebody  would not have just called it the Kashmir of Uttarakhand. I regretted being bereft of this beauty all these years inspite of being a native of that place. The hilly area is gifted with lush green forests with colorful flowers and variety of orchids that I could easily see hanging from the pine trees. Seeing the villages in the deep gorges increased my excitement . My mom closed her eyes as she feared looking down but I fully enjoyed the thrill . We reached Pithoragarh at 9 a.m in the morning when we were supposed to reach around 12. So hats off to the driver.

We stayed at Pithoragarh for two days enjoying the beauty of the nature. Then we headed towards Didihat which is 58km from Pithoragarh. The 2 hour journey in the jeep was fun as I was overwhelmed at every moment discovering the beauty of the hills. I could not hold my heart thumping seeing the beauty of the hill and felt to be in the lap of nature. On the way to Didihat there is a temple where every vehicle halts for sometime to offer prayer as it is believed that a vehicle has to take the blessing of the god here then only the journey would be safe otherwise there are every chances that the vehicle would fall into gorge as it had happened once when the driver didn’t stop there. I took the arti and jeep started again. I could not stop praising the beauty of the hills and also the way driver drove in such a difficult and risky terrain. Having met all our relatives there we came back to Pithoragarh and I wished to visit some of the important tourist places of which one was Patal Bhuwaneswar known for huge Shiva statue and other natural beauty but unfortunately we had to come back to Delhi as I had an important exam to take. But as soon as I get time I’ll again head towards Pithoragarh to get the sight of its overall beauty.

Pithoragarh is a destination for all those who want the exciting and thrilling journey and be in the lap of nature away from the daily hassles of life. So if you are looking  forward for such a journey then Pithoragarh is the destination for you.

Not a smooth transition to new government

It seemed this time it would be a smooth transition to the new government after the election result but the scene has changed now with the DMK announcing that it will support the government at the center from outside if it’s demands are not being met.

With the swearing in ceremony of Dr. Manmohan Singh as Prime minister and other 19 cabinet ministers, it has become clear that Congress wants to have only those ministers in the Cabinet who have a clear image and are loyal towards it.

But at the same time the bargaining process is on between DMK chief M. Karunanidhi and Congress whereby DMK chief Karunanidhi is pressing demand on congress to provide atleast eight berths in the cabinet and ministry of state. It seems to be a tough task for him as he has to think not only about his heir apparent but also the senior ministers like T R Baalu and A Raja. He is in a mess now as he has to satisfy his family members as well as the senior leaders.

Karunanidhi also seems to be thinking about his next generation as he wants to secure his children’s, Azagiri and Kanimozhi’s future after his end. This is why he may have taken the flight back to Chennai but had kept the option open by leaving A. Raja here for attending the swearing in ceremony.

By all this it becomes very clear that DMK chief is not thinking about running the country instead he is thinking about his personal gains. Is running the country a bargaining process.......? Will such ministers who think only about themselves and their family gains be given the power to govern the country.....? Will our country's fate depend on such selfish people who believe in give the berths in cabinet and take the support i.e give and take policy and don't see the repurcussions of that. If they don't get the support of Congress it's very well known that Jayalalithaa's government will come up in Tamil Nadu and the consequence of it i need not tell.

Till now Manmohan Singh seems to be taking the right decision by inducting only those into cabinet who are having the clear image and no negative records against them. Over that he also has some of the previous chief miisters in his cabinet who definetely have the experience and will help towards giving good governance to the country......

So, now one thing is to be seen whether Manmohan Singh will agree to DMK's wailing for portfolios or will it be steadfast on giving good governance to the country.. So let's wait and keep a watch on the political drama.......

MUM’S THE WORLD

Mum is a word for care,
Whose love is always fair,
She cheers us whenever we excel.
She gives us the support when we fall,
She bring us the soft cozy feelings,
whenever we feel lethargic,
She is the calmness,
whose one hug relieves us from all tensions.
She sacrifices everything in her life
For the sake of of her child’s well being.
She is a friend for life, a friend
who understands everything without saying anything.
I may not be able to express, express my feelings for her,
But she understands everything,
because she is my MOM.

Corporal punishment

The recent case of Shanno dying under known circumstances is a very shameful act of the teacher making an 11 year old girl stand in scorching sun in a crouching position which was unjustifiable. For a trivial reason of not being able to recite English alphabet string she was given such a harsh punishment that it lead to her death. Instead of Supreme Court having banned corporal punishment in schools in Delhi and various other states it seems still many school authorities have no fear of this law. Nowadays we are getting to hear a lot about corporal punishment. Every second day we hear about corporal punishment and the students dying because of that. It is shocking to know that everyday a child dies in the world due to corporal punishment. Teachers punish the students for some trivial reasons and what a student has to face is death. ‘Spare the rod and spoil the child’ still doesn’t seem to have come out of people’s mind. It seems the trained teachers too don’t seem to implement what they learn in educational psychology. By inflicting pain to a child, a child is not only hurt physically but also mentally. There is a great deal of mental impact on a child. Child hesitates to come to the class next time. He may also develop aggression towards students as well as teachers. And this is one of the reasons of aggression among the students nowadays in school as well as at home. It is very important for a teacher to handle the students psychologically. First they should try to know why student is having such a behavior, what kind of company he stays in and what kind of background he comes from and then tackle it accordingly. She/He can also take the help of other educationists in this. Raising hands or cane on the child is not the solution. What we need is understanding the students. ‘Taare Zameen pe’ is a parable for all those teachers who inflict injuries on students and hurt them physically and mentally. It’s high time for all the teachers that they try to understand the student in every aspect. Workshops are conducted for the teachers by governmental bodies but it is just for the sake of conducting it and attending it. Nobody tries to learn anything from there. Sometimes teachers out of their own frustration take out all their rage on their students. Educationists should seriously think about it and some stern action should be taken by school authority for those who use canes to change a student's behaviour. Even students who have aggressive behavior should be counseled by the educational psychologists and it should be conveyed to the student’s parents about their behavior. Many times it so happens that parents don’t know about the student behavior in school. So frequent Parents Teachers meeting is much required by which certain solutions can be taken out. But corporal punishment of course is not the solution to such cases. And the teacher cannot show such an amount of boorishness in her behavior that she/he can snatch a child away from a mother. Such teachers should be given the harshest punishment

Lets vote to bring change in our lives.......

Election is round the corner and everyone is curious to know which coalition is going to form the government this time. One thing that is in much discussion nowadays is the dynastical politics. The future of India seems to be revolving around this dynastical politics. It seems to be a dominating feature in India. It’s been 37 out of 53 years of India as an independent state that Nehruvian family still seems to be in the limelight in politics. It seems India has become immune to dynastical politics. Why take only Nehruvian family, there are numerous families in India like Abdullahs, Scindias, Devegowdas and the list goes on. It seems you are always at an advantageous position if you belong to a particular eminent political family and it becomes easy for you to enter the world of politics. What about people like us who would ever want to enter politics in their life. I feel it would be a very arduous task for us and we have to think hundred times before we even would think about entering politics where money and power only seems to have its say.
The participation of youth politicians also seems to be major hullabaloo this time. But all youth politicians who are in the election battleground seem to be very inexperienced and have someone or other over them as they belong to political families. The example of Rahul Gandhi at one side who is too very naïve to run the nation, at the other hand Varun Gandhi who is made the hero for delivering hate speech and is being pulled into one or the other controversy. I don’t think a well educated person who can think well can ever deliver a hate speech like which would communalise our nation and drag the nation to violence again. He is being made the scapegoat and is being guided by somebody over all this. I don’t think such a person deserves to be a leader in anyway. How can we even think of bringing such people to the government? If we keep on giving importance to kith and kins of so called eminent political families then the day is not very away when India will be victimized again and again. Violence will be in the air, there will be more and more terrorist attacks and India will not be able to sustain itself on the way of its development.
Youth denotes change and always looks forward to bring about change in this world. So why vote for a particular party, religion or community? Lets vote for a cause, a cause to bring a change in our lives…….

Peace of mind

I keep thinking why is this life so complicated.
Sometimes we feel elated and in other times very low,
It brings struggle with every moment's blow.
When will we get that peace of mind,
for which everyone strives to make life sound.
sometimes getting peace of mind seems to be inevitable,
then why we struggle to make it credible.
Oh! there I see a lad with tattered clothes,
with smile which I wish never fades.
He is happy in his own world,
very unaware about this dirty world.
Dirty world i mean here is the world of corruption, crime and politics....
To secure their votebank, politicians apply manier tactics,
they communalise the society and instigate the brothers to spread hatred among themselves.....
Sometimes i feel,
Why is the world so mean,
for one's own gain ready to cut anyone's vein..
The limit gets crossed when a man when ignored by wife,
in order to have dirty pleasure in his life,
kills her and fulfills his lust with her numb body.
Oh god, what kind of world are we living in?
where there is no one to see all these sins,
The rich is becoming richer and the poor, poorer.
On one side i see an eminent buisness tycoon gifting his wife a hefty aircraft
and there i see a poor person dying struggling the chilling cold.
My inner voice keeps asking,
Is this the world which is worth living,
where there is hatred all around.
It always compels me to ask a question to myself and to someone there,
somewhere there in the sky........Will i ever get that peace of mind?
